He really should have read "Catching Fire How Cooking Made Us Human" by Richard Wrangham.

As the title suggest, cooking is probably what sets us apart from other apes.

And a lot of nutrition is made available / digestible by cooking it.

I'm making bean soup. Let people like that chew on raw beans.
