Thank you for this article. As both athlete (ultrarunner) and vegan, I was also a bit let down by the science. And I do understand the reason why fellow vegans are quick to accept the science that is in their camp. I don’t think that’s a good idea. Confirmation bias is a b*tch.
What I missed in both your argument and in the movie is that a big part of the cancer risk in eating meat (and even more fish) is the preparing. Often it’s fried. So as you probably know not everything stays the same at certain temperatures especially when it comes to the oxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids when heating oil.
As a vegan I supplement creatine. It’s the most important supplement I take. So that’s nice you mention it. Since most vegans talk about b12 only and sometimes Iron.
That being said, since I switched to a vegan diet, I do perform better. But even when it wasn’t the case there are still the environmental and ethical reasons. But those are beyond the scope of the article.
